![]() Dr Janice Farquharson and I go back a long way. In the late-70's, she was my high school History teacher at Christian Brothers' College in Pretoria, South Africa. After high school she was a regular customer at the store at which I worked for 6 months before reporting for my two years compulsory military service. During the early 80's she was a lecturer in the history department of the University of Pretoria where I was studying Industrial Psychology. After my father died in 1990, I developed an interest in genealogy, and my quest for more information about my family brought me back into contact with Janice - she is an expert on the First World War, and heads up the Commonwealth War Graves Commission in South Africa. Janice wrote the foreward to Peter Digby's book "Pyramids and Poppies: The 1st SA Infantry Brigade in Libya, France and Flanders 1915-1918" and signed my copy on September 19, 1995 just before I relocated to the Czech Republic. I try to visit Janice whenever I'm back in South Africa.
