![]() My interest in genealogy brought me into contact with Peter Digby. He has kindly searched the military archives in South Africa on my behalf, successfully tracing the military records of my ancestors. Peter was educated at King Edward VII School and at the University of the Witwatersrand. He has served on the staff of the Pretoria Boys' High School as teacher, housemaster and Head of Department, English. He is a member and Secretary of the Transvaal Scottish Regimental Council and also Regimental Historian and Honorary Curator of the Transvaal Scottish Regimental Museum, which he founded in 1964. He has been awarded the John Chard medal and Decoration and is an Executive Director of the General Smuts War Veterans Foundation, Irene. Peter writes for various research journals and publications on military and historical matters. His book "Pyramids and Poppies: The 1st SA Infantry Brigade in Libya, France and Flanders 1915-1919" (part of the "South Africans at War" series) was published in 1993. I received a signed copy via a friend and colleague, Trevor Page, in 1995 - three years before I personally met Peter.
