The Pautz's Do Christmas

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the Pautz "Anti-Christmas" Page!!! Although a posse of Prague graffiti "artists" seems to have plied their trade on this page, Debs and I actually quite LIKE Christmas (shock, horror!!). The Festive Season in Europe is something very different to the traditional South African interpretation of Jesus Christ's birthday. Yeah, race down to the coast as fast as humanly possible, "shlepping" a Venter trailor, death and mayhem on the roads, guzzling luke warm Castles in the blazing sun, fighting for a spot on the beach, fighting off the flies, over-indulgence, braai-after-braai-after-braai, cholesterol frenzy, irritation.... YOU WILL HAVE FUN GODDAMNIT....Ho-fucking-Ho!!!

Hmmmm...the Festive Season in Central Europe is very different. Firstly it's cold, and that just seems appropriate for Christmas. Things are a lot more laid back here than back in SA - traditional Christmas markets, glühwein, balloons, grog, cold beer (the genuine article), real Christmas trees, carol singers, kids, families and friends. Relaxation. Goodwill. Snow. Tradition. A time to reflect. A time to bond. A time to renew. A time to ski!

Yes, we like Christmas here, but the only regret is that we don't get to spend it with our family and friends. Absence really does make the heart grow fonder, and Debs and I would just like to take this opportunity to say how much we miss you all and to wish you a VERY pleasurable Christmas and an exceptionally prosperous new Millennium! Wherever in the world this may find you (whether you're fondling llamas in Peru, dodging 'roos in Australia or just "gooi-ing" another dead animal on the braai in SA) may you be doing what you want to be doing and with the people you want to be with!

Here are some pictures and video clips of Christmas in Prague so that you can share a little of our lives...

Cheers,

MARK & DEBS
