MY REVIEW: | |||||||
The Výstavit-Malá sportovní hala is the worst concert venue in the
world. A cramped, humid and uncomfortable ice-hockey rink with atrocious accoustics and no
seating. Cigarette smoke choked air, the smell of "ripe" sweating bodies, no air conditioning
and incredibly ugly people. I like speed and thrash metal and have a selection of Megadeth and Metallica CD's. With these to groups, Anthrax was responsible for the emergence of this genre of music, but....goddamn....the venue really spoiled it for me! I enjoyed the first half hour of the set, but thereafter things deteriorated rapidly - I couldn't see, my neck started hurting, it was stiflingly hot, I couldn't get a beer, and the music all started sounding the same. Don't get me wrong, Antharax certainly combines the fury and speed of hardcore punk with the conspicuous guitars and vocals of heavy metal, and guitarists Scott Ian and Dan Spitz are a formidable pair, spitting out lightning fast remarkable riffs and solos. But jeeez, I think it was the wrong time and (definitely) place for me. I don't own any Anthrax albums and that's also why I probably coudn't relate to the concert. Nice noise, shame about the place.
