MY REVIEW:
"...For those about to rock..." B-O-O-O-M "...We salute you..."!!!

In the late 70's two small comets (the Sex Pistols and AC/DC) wiped the dinosaurs of rock off the face of our planet...Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Yes and their clones all sounded very dated after I heard the Pistols and "Aca-Daca". For me Angus Young still personifies the group - his hopping goose-step, bicycle crawl, convincing dead ant and perpetual grimace all pale into insignificance when one considers that the poor bastard is condemned to wearing a green velvet, short trouser school uniform for the rest of his life! Nevertheless, these are the guys who single-handedly invented head-banging and who ruined the necks of a generation.

In hindsight, listen the "Let There Be Rock" again - is it not just another form of punk? Not the "throw it all away, knock it out in 2 minutes 59, spit at commercialism" type, but a redefinition of rock. AC/DC removed the deep moroses, depression, self-centred, bloated- Elvisness, grandiose, pompousness, and said "Hey, this can be fun"!! Listen to the track "Let There Be Rock" - it is played at a break-neck speed and was certainly the prototype for the thrash and speed-core that followed!

However I found it interesting that AC/DC seemed to have assumed the "over-the-topness" of the mega-groups they killed off in the 70's...demolition ball destroying the stage set (see Pink Floyd, Berlin!), a row of active cannon, huge bells, pyrotechnics, opulent lighting, etc. The dinosaur meets glam rock! I loved it! Oh yeah, the average Matriculation year was about 1978,5! ;-)) I really enjoyed myself!

"...Thunder...aahh-a-a-ahhh-a-a-ahhh-a..."!!
